Preface 

            This is the story of black life that I witnessed in the streets of Detroit beginning in 1940. As a young boy, I learned to apply my skills of what I learned in the streets, then I “sharpened my game” and became a well known pimp and player. Those were the days where hoes were queens and  looked upon as the first ladies of the day. They were also the days where hoes were dutifully shown full respect and honor for the role that they played in representing the players and pimps of their choice. We, as the pimps and hoes, took our place in the sun, to be or not to be, in the then generation. 

Detroit represented the breeding ground of many pimps who rose through the ranks and became the top players in this sport of kings where they were crowned by their hoes. The crown could only be earned by laboring to master that which is born in the hearts of all pimps. If you were able to master the art of pimping, then you were among the elites who mastered the game. These are the true facts of my life’s story, a total recollection of all the cities and towns I’ve traveled to as a player, pimp, and gangster.

Through the long process of time, I not only became refined and polished in the game, I survived the murderous Motor City long enough to live to write Gentleman Of Leisure and give this game to you. All the people and places detailed in this book are real. Nothing has been changed, ignored, or left out. The only information that has been omitted is that which could later be used for criminal prosecution!
